Hi, I've just joined this group & would love to be able to draw nude male bodies. I tried when I was a kid, just copied pictures I'd seen. Charles Atlas & Tarzan comics were the first - yes, really. I don't know how much longer I'll be able to enjoy men in real life, let alone wrestle them.
Maybe it's all about re-living one's childhood at 76 plus?......lol

Bill.

I agree with SileX. Best advice is to start and keep going. References are great to help with proportions and angles. I attached a character I made to show progress after 3 years and plenty of progress left to go

I also started drawing late as an adult, so my personal advice: just get into it. Pick up a pencil or stylus and start drawing. That's what I did and the first few were absolutely shit, but that didn't mean that I wasn't having fun with it. Drawing is one of those things that you just have to practice, over and over, and you gradually get better.

There are art books you can buy and online tutorials that you can check out if you want, but in the end you will get better with practice alone. Use a photograph or drawing as reference if that helps you.

As for tools, I started with paper and pencil, then paper and pencil plus ink, finally transitioning to drawing tablet.

For your amusement, I attach my first drawing.

Hi, thanks for the advice. There are plenty of good looking men on here for me me to start with. You look pretty good, so maybe that's where I should start. lol

Your first effort has given me more confidence to give it a go.
Was/is your hair that long?.......lol
I had long hair in the 70's, but I think most young(ish) guys did. I even had a 'Jimmy Hill' beard.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I should keep it simple to start with.
I'll let you know when I'm ready.....Bill

I wouldn't mind this at sometime. Always looking for reference photos when I get time for drawing
