This was a glorified sparring session and Alvarez looked as dominant as he possibly could. He outjabbed his taller opponent. Sometimes, he threw it moving back. Other times, he advanced behind it.
The more the fight progressed, the more dominant he became. He threw vicious uppercuts and thunderous overhand rights. He threw three- and four-punch combinations. He capped the ninth round with a beautiful pull counter, stunning Chavez.“It was the speed and distance,” Chavez Jr. said.

JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ JR.;
"No secret...i'm coming out guns a blazing and taking advantage of my height, reach, and power. I feel very good. I shut a lot of mouths. I came in half a pound lighter. I slept well, woke up hungry..which is a good sign..so, upon MAB's recommendation..ate me a Cheeseburger..lol...
You can expect a Barrera-Morales type Mexican street fight...and my arm will be lifted when the dust settles"
I've been a Chavez fan for a while now. It's nothing to do with the fact he's fighting Canelo. And he is looking in great shape, will turn up to fight and will give Canelo hell for 12 rounds. It will be Canelo's toughest fight yet. I'm totally into this one!
The clock is ticking with tomorrow's Alvarez vs Chavez scrap. Canelo had some difficult fights and some not really victorious. Judges were helping him just like the media did. Cotto, gave it a tremendous effort, staying on his toes and moving nicely throughout the fight, but the judges clearly liked Alvarez's brute strength more, awarding him the fight on surprisingly wide scores of 119-109, 118-110 and 117-111.
You put yourself in an analogy you can't defend. Chavez Jr can't compare with his father, either.
Anyway, this fight has a lot riding on it for Canelo–especially if the fight with GGG can be made.
"Boxing fans are being disrespectful towards me unjustly. The WBC was breathing down my neck repeatedly to fight GGG, but I had a lot of personal issues I was dealing with at the time that had priority...my lawsuit in Miami and personel family problems made it impossible for me to do those two things at the same time, so I had to relinquish the belt to a fighter who never even threw ONE punch. Who never faced me in the ring...It was unfair."
"Now the Huichol belt issue..i am dissapointed in the WBC' s actions and I won't accept the Huichol belt for that reason. It is just a cheap publicity stunt and of course, they want the sanctioning fees..This is not a championship fight anyway, so why the belt?...NO.. I have been training among the tribe and have many Huichol friends. As a matter of fact, on fight night a special Huichol contingency will arrive and take my Huichol inspired wardrobe that I will wear for the fight"
One of the biggest fights of the year takes place this Saturday night in Las Vegas as Canelo Alvarez will face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a matchup of two of Mexico's biggest names.
There could be an upset.Chavez is the son of legendary boxing icon Julio Cesar Chavez, who for decades carried the flag for Mexican fight fans. Boxing also runs through his veins and there's a great deal of PRIDE involved...It should be interesting!

Should be Canelo by KO. Don't see Chavez finishing the fight, let alone winning it.
