New Day For Indy Prowrestling In Washington??

Apparently our governor signed a bill in the last day or two that will make it easier for indy wrestling shows to be staged in Washington. Still looking for an explanation of what they did but one report I heard this AM sounds like it allows pro wrestling schools to stage smaller events eg you just can't waltz into the state as a promoter and put on an event - you have to partner with someone in state. Ideally it will mean we get shows going into the smaller real venues with trained performers rather than some bar in Seattle.

Along that thought, I found it interesting that WCWC had Caleb Conley on their last show in Portland. Caleb had/has a contract to work for Impact/TNA Wrestling and I think he works primarily works down in the SE. Definitely interesting to see how he works his matches.

Looked at the Washington Athletic Commission web site this AM but didn't spot a post explaining the new / revised regulations. However, they show a Brian Halquist Productions doing two events consequitive days in May. May 5th, Washington State Fair Events Center, Paulhamus Arena, Puyallup, WA and May 6th, Yakima Valley SunDome, Yakima, WA. These are both venues up in the 500 to 100 seat range which is a good sized indy event.

(In reply to this)

Kevin Sullivan is advertised for the local indy in my hometown on the 29th. Do I go to the Sounders match where I have the season tickets or the Indy show at the Eagles in Port Orchard that is 15 minutes from my apartment walking. But 3-2-1 Battle is a good promotion.

3-2-1 Battle is okay for what they have to work with. But IMHO, Washington Hall is not a venue for a serious promotion no more than El Corazon. Great if you live on Capital Hill and ride mass transit. But not an area I would drive my car to and try to park on the street. I'm thinking I'll go to the Halquist event just to see how they do. He normally promotes mma events at locations like Emerald Queen Casino so he should have a decent show.

I just go to the shows by my apartment. Average around 160 per show. They use the bingo hall. Prices keep going up because more bigger names are being used.

The DOA folks posted their next event : DOA Pro Wrestling presents Stiff Competition Saturday May 20th. The main event sounds sort of interesting. From the posts, it sounds like their event this last weekend was pretty good - sorry I couldn't make it.

Spotted event announcement for a promotion I had not heard of before. Prestige Championship Wrestling is doing an event June 23rd In Hermiston Oregon. Looks like some WCWC and DOA wrestlers plus some I didn't recognize. Tickets were $30 ringside so they must be figuring on at least breaking even money wise. My guess would be they are figuring on drawing people out of the Tri-Cities ( Richland/Kennewick/Pasco ). That is supposed to be a 40 minute drive.

It is sort of interesting to see how they record that show to make the tv airlings and the youtube episodes. I assume the youtube episode is the same as the tv episode minus the on air commercials. They use a three camera setup, two manned and one overhead boom mounted - appears to be commericial grade cameras. Also noted the refs are using earpieces which I don't remember seeing last year.
